SPICY! This blended American Whiskey has a fairly sweet odor, and it is spicy on the lips. Backbone Bourbon says at least 51% of this custom blend is straight bourbon and all are aged between five and seven years. Three types of whiskey were used to create this blend:
– Straight Bourbon (5 to 7 years old)
– Straight Rye (8 years old)
– Light whiskey (14 years old)
Another hard-hitting 110-proof bourbon, and on first taste, this one drinks a little more true to its alcohol content. However, it drinks light straight whiskey, with that little bit of sour singe to finish off (which I prefer), as opposed to a traditional sweet “bourbon” finish. Backbone does not list a price, but an internet search shows it listed between $75-$100 per 750mL bottle. Their website shows Backbone Bourbon is only available for direct sale in select states.

Tons of spice in this bourbon, which is a bit strong to start for my taste

At first sip it was a bit harsh, but smooths significantly after a few sips

A bit on the pricey end in my opinion. However, in the realm of small batch American Bourbon’s is fairly well priced.
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, concerned citizens can change world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has.
